Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood: Black Dog Easy Evening

12916306_1070504866328818_9154881104686452428_o[1]It was a night of hysteria. Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood from popular TV series ‘Whose Line is it Anyway’ are on an Indian tour where they have already covered Hyderabad, Mumbai before coming to Gurgaon. The event is promoted by Black Dog Easy Evenings and just like their other event; it was a great stress buster and fun.

I had the opportunity to meet the two comic icons at an informal meet a day before at Vivanta by Taj and they were at their usual best – Calm, composed but still coming with their witty one-liners.

20160326_205549The event held at the open pool side lawns at The Patio club at South City 1, we enjoyed some interesting whiskey cocktails. My favourite was the Ale at Ease which had refreshing mint and ginger mixed to bitters and Black Dog Triple Reserve. Club Patio starters complimented the drinks well too.

20160327_225007The event started with Lola Kutty (Anuradha Menon) making some funny and cheeky remarks on her Gujju marriage. She set the mood and while audience enjoyed her comic, it was just the beginning. As the comic duo came on the stage, the people laughed till their cheek started hurting, they were seen continuously laughing and patting their friends legs and though I didn’t notice, am sure few also fell off their chairs laughing.

A completely improv act, they kept asking various audience to tell them few cue words and the entire event circled around the same. The guessed the words, the made some witty songs and most importantly they connected with the audience. Such comedy acts in India are still to be seen, and am sure this Black Dog Easy evening will remain with me for a long-long time.

My Colleague, Mayuri, from Mumbai adds:

IMG_0375How do you react when you get an invite to meet someone you have always admired, over a couple of drinks and informal chit-chat! That’s what happened when Suprio asked me if I would go and meet Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood I jumped up and said yes. In my house “Whose Line Is It Anyway” on Zee studio or whichever channel the reruns come, is a regular “must watch”. Husband is a big fan and so am I.

IMG_0384Thus we, P and I, reached Marine Plaza at Marine Drive for an informal bloggers evening organized by Black Dog. We were sipping those awesome cocktails served by Afzal, the mixologist from Black Dog and those tasty little bites from Marine Plaza. After a while Brad and Colin came in. It was a pleasure meeting them. Absolutely no air about their celebrity status; they smiled and talked with everyone. In fact when my camera suddenly developed a technical glitch, Colin held that smile, till it worked again. A million points to him for that. Colin and Brad were in India as a part of Black Dog Easy Evenings and were performing in Hyderabad, Gurgaon, Mumbai and Bengaluru. If you ask me honestly ,when it comes to Improv Comedy, my only reference is “Whose Line Is It Anyway” and to meet Colin and Brad was a dream come true.

There were Abish Mathew from AIB; Kaneez Surka from The Week That wasn’t and Biswa Kalyan Rath from Pretentious Movie Review. Too many funny people under one roof and all thanks to Black Dog.
