Garage Inc, Hauz Khas Village, New Delhi: An American hotspot

[Rated: 3.0/5]

InteriorsHauz Khas Village has now over ninety restaurants. Not long ago, these were in single digits. No wonder many of them open and close down without their names being heard. Creating an identity in such a saturated market is not a mean task, and I was happy to visit Garage Inc, a new American restaurant, which has carved a niche as a happening easy-to-go joint for youngsters.

DSC07111Situated on the main side of HKV rather than some of those narrow alleys and blessed with a lift to reach its second floor outlet, it is certainly better located than many other joints. Garage Inc lives to its name and has a Garage like entry door with interiors kept as simple yet comfortable. Most importantly it has a small section which is overlooking greens and is obviously much in demand for smokers and other alike.

NachosStarting with house special Chicken Nachos (320), they were loaded with refried beans, cheese and chicken, and were enough for two of us. The best part was that chicken mince was used allowing it to be spread evenly all over. The Nachos were crisp, thin and fresh unlike the industrial ones used by many others. However the purist would miss extra salsa, sour cream and guacamole traditionally served along.

Chilly fried beefNext in our list was Chilli fried beef (320). Served along with mayonnaise and salsa it was a strange combination but surprisingly worked well.

DSC07123The mulled wine served at Garage Inc is nice but we focussed on cocktails. LIIT and whisky nuts were average and lacked the required punch. Bar tender saw the disappointed look at our face, and served us Tony Island, a simple yet fragrant and tasty mix of vodka, orange juice and cinnamon powder.

DSC07127This place was bringing out the carnivore in us and as our main course we went with pork chops and tenderloin burger. Pork chops (Rs 385) were cooked without asking for our preference and were a tad chewy since they were well-done. The tenderloin burger (Rs 335) was much nicer than most other places in NCR with moist and juicy patty. It could have been one of the finest if the bun hadn’t been so crumbly, patty not big enough to match the bun size and french fries crispier.

The desserts were nice without being extraordinary. Servers were new and lacked knowledge. Given the location and its food, this is a lovely meeting spot for all meat loving youngsters.
