A lot of multinational chains have arrived in India over last Decade and added to the growing excitement in restaurant industry.
When I heard of a new Italian chain with the name “Eagle Boys Pizza” just wondered what prompted the promoter for such name that resembles the names of outlets depicted in Wild West movies. On my visit I discovered that it happens to be the offshoot of an Australian pizza joint that claims to be the largest in the country with over 350 outlets and was able to get the rationale behind the name.
I was all set to put the offerings to test and was pleasantly surprised to go through the menu card already offering Indian version of Pizzas with chicken keema, kadahi chicken, tandoori chicken, delux lamb, and veg tandoori varieties among others.
We requested for Chicken Wings (Rs 99) and Money Bags (Rs79) as starters along with a portion of cheese garlic bread. Chicken wings were well done and were served with BBQ sauce that had a good smoky taste. Money Bags were the bags of flour pastry filled with vegetables and deep fried to form and interesting dish. The cheese garlic bread was however too oilyand heavy .
In main course we opted for chicken Mexicana pizza (Rs165 for 7”); tandoori chicken pizza (Rs 200 for 7”) and a chicken makhani pizza (Rs 115 for 7”). Chicken Mexicana was a pan pizza with a generous helping of jalapenos, capsicum, tomatoes, onion, baby corn and red chilly. I just loved the taste. The red chillies added to the much required spiciness., Tandoori chicken had the perfect crust with the chicken topping releasing the flavours of a classic tandoori delight and marinating the succulence of chicken. However the chicken makahni Pizza turned out to be far more salty than it should have been.
We also saw a sweet variant of pizza termed as sweetza offering two flavours. We settled for a triple chocolate (Rs99). It came loaded with white and dark chocko chips and garnished with a decent helping of chocolate sauce. The pizza was not warm enough that made the bread chewy and chocolate lost the taste.
EBY would need to ensure that all varieties being created to satisfy the Indian taste buds are of uniformly good quality to attract guests from all walks of life.
