Dessert Festival at Mamagoto, Gurgaon

Peanut butter Cheese cakeAt times I feel I overdo myself, and when I accepted an invitation to a dessert festival at Mamagoto, I knew this is another one of them. Not having a sweet tooth, I can barely finish a dessert…okay two at best, and going to a dessert festival meant I shall be going overboard.

ICrunchy Nutella Mousse have been to Mamagoto earlier and found the food to be good, though being early days for Mamagoto that time, service did needed some catching up. This time the instructions for my visit were not percolated down the team and it missed to cover up for the lapses last time. However the manager was quick to make amends and started a courtesy casual talk while we had already ordered our first dessert as a paid customer. Crunchy Nutella Mousse (175) was anything but a mousse. Praline flavors mixed with hazelnut nutella were nice but the chocolate sauce had become hard kept in refrigerator for long, completely taking away the soft textures of mousse.

Ed: On an invited review initiated by restaurant, the reviewer is not charged and instructions for the visit are given in advance at the restaurant reception.

The lemon and coconut tartThe lemon and coconut tart (175) that came next was exceptional. The subtle flavors were finely balanced and created a medley of flavors. The crust was hard while the inside was soft. I couldn’t have asked for a better dessert.

Peanut butter Cheese cakeBefore commenting on the peanut butter cheese cake (245), I must make a declaration. I am not fond of chocolates, especially dark chocolates. And this one was just that and overly sweet too. So I will reserve my comments on this, and say that order this dessert if you love both peanut butter as well as dark chocolates.

Flourless chocolate cakeFlourless chocolate cake was set well. Most places make it so gooey that it looks like someone is drinking chocolate rather than eating it. Full marks to Mamagoto for getting the consistency right! The taste was spot on too. Banoffee pie (190) was nice without being exceptional.

Caramel sponge cakeCaramel sponge cake (190) served with toffee sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice-cream is that simple dessert which I shall order along with lemon-coconut tart when I am personally dining. And did I tell you, that the tender coconut icecream that Mamagoto serves is as good as Naturals in Mumbai. Post this expression, do I say more?

tender coconut icecreamSo if you have a sweet tooth or the next time you are dining at Mamagoto, now you know which desserts to order. Just remember to thank me for the pains I took for the love of food. After a battery of desserts, I ordered for something savory to change my taste-buds while telling myself, never again for a dessert carnival.
