Mid week, Speakeasy at Olive Bar and Kitchen saw people get three reasons to celebrate. The reason being Four Seasons Wines Limited, one of the two wine business arms of UB group were showcasing three of their wines specially selected for pairing with the varied Indian palates.
“The largest and the longest wine and bespoke menu pairing event so far in the country”, spread across 06 cities at 90 signature restaurants, (see list below) the wines have been selected to pose as a common denominator for the diverse flavours of Indian cuisine. With the selectively paired menu at these restaurants, Four Seasons hopes to give consumers the opportunity to taste and appreciate their wines.
For this purpose the evening at Olive Bar and Kitchen’s retro bar decorated with stained glass bejeweled ladies with long bead necklaces a la Wodehouse and easy ambience saw the generous flowing of three of their best, a Rose, a Chenin Blanc and a Shiraz.
The Rose was chilled perfectly and had a refreshingly flowery bouquet with a top note reminiscent of rose bowers. It should pair well with the spicy strong flavours of Indian cuisine. The Chenin Blanc was light and smooth with hints of citrus and apple, perfect with a cold salad or seafood. The Shiraz, dry textured and velvety with considerably less after burn at the back of the throat (as is wont with most young wines) was the one this reviewer enjoyed the most. It would pair well with grilled meat or a piece of after-dinner aged cheddar or Spanish Manchego cheese.
Abhay Kewadkar, Chief Wine maker and Director of Four Seasons love for his wines was evident in his enthusiastic speech at the event. Now it is the public’s turn to validate the same. Go forth and multiply your joys in all seasons with Four Seasons. Just make sure you are qualified, for the following appears on the Four Seasons’ website-
