What better way to celebrate Children’s Day than by launching a special menu for children on that day! Aptly titled “Celebrating Childhood”, Smoke House Deli (SHD) has created a special 10 page kids’ menu cum activity booklet.
The excitement for my two tots, aged 8 and 5, starts the moment they are each handed the “book of a bunch of stuff” along with a set of crayons. Apart from the several colouring sheets and a tear-along paper plane, the booklet contains the entire menu in the form of stickers. Yes! So they take their pick from appetisers, super sandwiches, pizzas, burgers, pasta, major meals, shakes and sweet treats and stick their order on the perforated sheet titled “My Order” and “My 2nd Order”.
The best part: the choice. Hopefully, no tantrums here even from the fussiest little eaters. While many restaurants feature kids’ menus, SHD understands the gourmet palates of their young patrons. Thus, in the appetiser section, along with the Cheese and Veggie Bombs and Chicken and Cheese Bombs, one finds Swiss Roll Pancakes, The Good Kid Fruit Salad with toffee and chocolate sauce and even a Do It Myself Salad. Apart from the other regulars, there are attractions like Peanut Butter Jam & Jelly Caterpillar sandwich, pizzas including toppings like pepperoni, bacon, chicken and ham, or a Healthy and Tasty Vegetarian option including mushrooms, corn, broccoli and beans besides the ever popular Margherita. My kids loved the Make Your Own Pasta section where they could pick pasta from a choice of spaghetti, penne, fusilli and farfalle (each with a description and a picture to make it easier for the young ones to make their choice); choose their sauce, from the tangy tomato, creamy alfredo or the pinky pink; and finally some add-ons ranging from vegetables and chicken to sausages and bacon. The shakes on offer hit the spot with options including Chocolate + Smarties and the Kit Kat flavour.
As an introductory offer, SHD will be serving a complimentary meal to kids all through the launch week (14th-21st November 2014) including a dish and shake of their choice. At the end of the “magic week” the menu will continue to be available at all their outlets pan India.
