Plaka, Cyberhub, Gurgaon: By Chef Ajay Chopra

Upon hearing that Master Chef Ajay Chopra had returned to his roots in Delhi to open his first restaurant, Plaka at Cyberhub, we knew we had to experience it. This establishment was formerly a Greek restaurant but has since been renamed to Plaka by Ajay Chopra, who has incorporated some of his favorite recipes from his 25 years of culinary expertise. As a disclaimer, I must note that our dining experience was heightened by the chef’s undivided attention and smaller portions so that we could try a greater variety of dishes.

To begin, we savored an edamame pizzette, a delectable flaky crust topped with whipped edamame, green apples, and water chestnut bites, which was truly divine.

Next, we indulged in the Thai paan salad, showcasing the freshest ingredients, although the paan flavor was slightly subdued due to the frying of the paan in tempura batter. Chef Ajay graciously accepted our feedback and promised to make the necessary adjustments, reflecting his true professionalism and dedication to his craft.

We were also impressed by the Vegan Delhi 6 seekh kebab, which was free of cream or ghee and served with Ajmer-style kadhi, a unique dish we had never tasted before. The Pathar ke kebab was equally impressive, as it was cooked on a stone and served on one personally chosen by Chef Ajay on one of his travels.

In addition to the edamame pizzette, the haleem baklawa was another standout dish, with a flaky texture that complemented the soft texture of haleem beautifully.

Vegetarians should not miss the perfectly balanced and satisfying dal chaat, a must-try dish.

We also enjoyed the soft pork belly, accompanied by sweet and sour purple cabbage.

For the main course, we relished the Thecha noodles, served on a sizzling plate, a simple yet delightful dish that was complete with honey chili lotus stem fritters, creating a symphony of sweet and spicy flavors.

To conclude, we opted for the kaffir lime flavored creme brulee with berries, which was a delightful. A little crack by the spoon and we knew that this flavorful treat has been bruleed to perfection.

We noticed many more intriguing dishes on the menu, but we left them to try on our next visit. Our dining experience was exceptional, taking place in a beautiful restaurant with an extraordinary chef and wonderful people. This dinner had all the components of a perfect meal, and we left with the promise to visit again.
